The documentary production company Yami 2 is evolving

In early 2025, Yami 2 celebrates the retirement of its founder Christophe Nick. Twenty years after its creation with Pierre Péan, Yami 2 is entering a new phase in its history by welcoming producer Christian Popp (former programme manager at Arte, then producer at Yuzu Productions and Tag Film) to co-manage the company alongside Antoine Boukobza, Christophe Nick's right-hand man since the creation of Yami 2, now producer and manager.

A new direction and new editorial ambitions

Yami 2's editorial ambitions will expand. Yami 2's historical line (political, historical, social, societal, environmental and cultural investigations), which has won it two Albert Londres awards, will continue to be developed thanks to the collaboration of the writer-directors who have made Yami 2's reputation (Christophe Bouquet, Antoine Vitkine, Jennifer Deschamps, Jérôme Fritel, Tania Rakhmanova, Frédéric Compain) and the forthcoming arrival of Jean-Pierre Canet. Yami 2 is maintaining its partnership with Upian for digital creation.

The arrival of Christian Popp will open Yami 2 up to world cinema, in search of new perspectives and new narratives to tackle the challenges and fractures of the 21st century in a more sensitive way. International co-productions will be stepped up. Yami 2 will also give itself the means to produce feature-length fiction films for the cinema.

On the road to the Social Solidarity Economy

Yami 2 is going to become a Social and Solidarity Economy company, thus anchoring what has been its founding principle from the outset: to be at the exclusive service of citizens who want to understand the world as it is. The SSE is also an ethic that guarantees, through its articles of association and governance, that all the money generated by Yami 2 productions is invested in the works and teams that contribute to them. In line with this philosophy, Christophe Nick will remain attached to Yami 2 to manage its social utility.

At a time when the future of French public service broadcasting is more threatened than ever, Yami 2 is giving itself the means to weather the storms ahead, reaffirming its commitment to popular education, independence and editorial rigour.

His "gourmet forest", where everything can be eaten, has become a model for tackling climate, water and food problems. Fabrice is spreading his knowledge and trying to convince farmers, citizens, businesses and public authorities that a new art of living and producing is possible.
