C’est juste une question de temps

Directed by Étienne de Clerck

We live with the perception that the world is accelerating. Yet time is the same for everyone. Nora Hamadi immersed herself in the daily lives of six people who, each in their own way, seek to control the pace of their lives. How can we avoid a nervous breakdown? This four-part series delves into our schedules to help us understand our dilemmas and contradictions.

Episode 1 – The Race Against Time

What if time had become the new issue in the class struggle? Nora Hamadi spent time with a single mother in Montreuil, a farmer in Brittany and a time management coach in Munich. Time—whether chosen, endured, or conquered—is at the heart of how they think and live their lives. When daily necessities prevail, is it possible to control some of your time?

Episode 2 - Time is Money

Under pressure to perform, how do you avoid a nervous breakdown? Nora Hamadi spent time with a single mother living in Montreuil, a intensive care doctor at a hospital in Paris, a time management coach in Munich, and an anthropologist in Strasbourg. They opened up about their relationship with work and activity. Today, we talk about “epidemics” of fatigue. How can we find a new relationship with productive time?

Episode 3 - Killing time

What if we fear emptiness more today than we did yesterday? Nora Hamadi spent time with a single mother living in Montreuil, an environmental activist in Munich, and an anthropologist in Strasbourg. The amount of time we spend on social media has become a concern for everyone. Yet it raises as many paradoxes as it does obvious conclusions. Should we stop feeling ashamed of the time we spend on screens? Can we still control it?

Episode 4 - Light years away

What if we took a break from the rush and thought about the long term? Nora Hamadi spent time with an intensive care doctor at a hospital in Paris and one of her seriously ill patients, a farmer in Brittany, and a single mother during a family weekend in the Gulf of Morbihan. There are other scales of time than that of our own lives. How can thinking about the long term help us find a better balance in our daily lives?
