Et maintenant?
The international festival of ideas for tomorrow
With ARTE France, produced by YAMI 2 and Upian
Et maintenant? is a series of questionnaires and a festival looking to the future. Founded by ARTE and France Culture, Et maintenant? begins each year with a questionnaire addressed to all those who wonder about the society of today and tomorrow. The results of the questionnaire, analyzed by sociologists, then inspire the festival's programming, which includes meetings, debates and workshops.
Et maintenant?, a questionnaire, debates and a festival
Every year since 2021, ARTE, Yami 2 and Upian have joined forces to develop questionnaires on specific themes, including results are analyzed by sociologists.
The questionnaire is a formidable a tool for democratic debate. To propose a unique space for collective expression and questioning, debates are organized all over France. We give everyone the opportunity to express their views and reflect collectively on the social issues raised in the questionnaires.
After several months of discussion around the questionnaires, a festival is organized to give the floor to researchers, artists, intellectuals and journalists to shed light on the major trends revealed by sociological research.

EDITION 5 - 2025
In 2025, two questionnaires Et maintenant? have been released:
- Money, money, money in May 2025 on our relationship with money. "Thune", "cash", "fric", "oseille", "moula"... A lot of words for a subject we don't talk about so openly. So it's time to talk about money!
- For your pleasure in July 2025: let's explore our small and big pleasures, our hidden pleasures, all those spaces that protect us, elevate us but can sometimes lose us. Just tell us: what's your kif?
The fifth edition of the Et maintenant? took place at the Gaieté Lyrique in Paris on October 18, 2025.
EDITION 4 - 2024
The 4th edition was structured around 3 questionnaires:
- Europa-moi in April 2024 on Europe. What do we have in common with our European neighbors? Is what's happening to us «Brussels fault»? And what if we looked beyond the clichés to the essentials: how do we experience Europe on a day-to-day basis?
- Mental Combat in June 2024 around mental health. Mental health is no longer a taboo subject. Fortunately, because 1 in 5 people in France suffers from a mental health problem. How do you take care of yours?
- Family photo on our relationship with the family. Whether fragmented or reconstituted, chosen or suffered, the family plays a major role in our personal trajectory. What's yours like?
The fourth edition of the Et maintenant? took place at the Gaieté Lyrique in Paris on October 19, 2024.
EDITION 3 - 2023
The third edition saw two questionnaires emerge:
- «Taking the time» in April 2023 on our relationship with time. When we've never had so much free time, why do we feel we never have enough? What do we waste it on? And where do we gain it: work, leisure, screen time?
- Democra-what? in 2023 on our relationship with democracy. We're voting less and less, but we're still asking for more democracy. So how do we make our voices heard? To regain power, do we need to shake up the rules of democracy?
The responses to these two questionnaires inspired the programming of the festival, which took place on October 21, 2023.
EDITION 2 - 2022
The 77-question questionnaire was structured around the climate of uncertainty in which we evolve. After two years marked by covid, the war in Ukraine, and political uncertainties, in short, after all that, what kind of world do we want? In this environment, how do we blossom, what brings us comfort, where do we take refuge when everything goes wrong? What binds us together and brings us together in spite of everything?
The festival took place on October 21 and 22, 2022 at the Maison de la Radio et de la Musique. Relive the festival here !
EDITION 1 - 2021
The first edition ofEt maintenant? explored how our society, and in particular the 18-30 age group, which has been hit hard by the Covid-19 crisis, sees itself in the future. How does it see progress and its links with the planet? What are its hopes and disappointments? What are its commitments and how does it intend to participate in democratic life? How does it view relationships, work and free time?
Composed of 130 questions, the questionnaire, developed with sociologist Monique Dagnaud (CNRS research director and sociologist specializing in the study of youth), was structured around 5 major themes: education, work, democracy, intimacy and science.
The festival was held on Monday November 29, 2021 at the Maison de la Radio et de la Musique. Watch the replay here.
