Iran

The Wake of a Giant

Written and directed by Julie Lerat and Christophe Bouquet

Iran is waking up. After being ostracized for forty years, the country, torn between openness and conservatism, is now arousing fears and hopes, against a backdrop of the gradual and conditional lifting of international sanctions.

Trailer

Isolated for nearly 40 years, rejected by many countries, Iran today seems to be ready to renew with the world. An overwhelming majority of Iranians wish for their country to open up to the world, and put forth its incredible potential. However, at the heart of the Iranian government lies a powerful elite unit who opposes itself to opening up and to dialogue : the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. For the past fifteen years, they have enabled Iran to spread its influence in the Middle-East. For the U.S.A and Iran’s neighbors, they are one of the major threats to regional balance. This doesn’t keep Europe, with France taking the lead, to believe in dialogue and to think that another type of relationship with Iran is possible.
